High Noon (1952)

Classic Western - showdown gunfight is scheduled at High Noon in a small town. The hero is a law-upholding sheriff (Gary Cooper) and the villain is a recently released convict (with outlaw friends) bent on revenge. Problem is the Marshall has no deputies! Looks like suicide for the Marshall but he is full of guts and grit (and other interesting qualities). The music is a delightful departure from the overuse of symphony and FITS the action. Performances are so REAL-(Grace Kelly and Lloyd Bridges appear in this film). Shot in black and white. A must see for anyone who likes Westerns! 111 min.
